Web High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to make it to the closing poker table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest enthusiasts in the world. While playing net poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He regularly competes in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus more often than not buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless he is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the table with the min buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes most of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is accepted to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amount. I think television can alter our view of the real world at times. The best poker players anywhere in the world could be players you have will not have heard of. Gus can be found gambling on web poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in big stakes omaha eight-or-better and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in cash games?
