Net Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to achieve final poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a massive pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best bettors anywhere in the world. While competing in online poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. Gus frequently participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all in. I accept that Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the min takes a majority of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amount. I believe television can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest players anywhere in the world might be players you have will not have heard of. Gus can be found participating in online poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in high stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in cash games?
