Pai Gow is played with 53 cards; the normal 52-card basic deck and a single joker. The player is dealt seven cards face up and the house is given seven cards faces hidden.
A five card hand and one 2 card hand have to be made from the seven cards dealt, the five card hand has to be higher than the two card hand. To win, a player needs both of his hand totals to be better than the houses.
