NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn whatever he possibly could about poker. He would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the detrimental comments from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
He started playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning was not a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for poker. He states that he is learning every single day and is quite humble about his success. He admits to making blunders in each game of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
