Internet Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the closing poker table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest gamblers in the world. While wagering on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He often participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen frequently buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all in. I believe Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy in.
Playing for the min takes a majority of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the best poker players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amount. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world at times. The best poker players anywhere in the world might be players you have never heard of. Gus can be found competing in web poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in high stakes omaha hold’em and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his abilities in money games?
