NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn whatever he possibly could about poker. He routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse feedback from other people destroy his goal of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.
Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning opportunity and winning was not a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated many of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is very humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Even though Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
