NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn whatever he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative feedback from other people kill his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
He started competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and always strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
