No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player on the planet by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn everything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative feedback from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.
Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an undying passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and always strives to improve.
Although Ivey has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
