Texas Hold’em Poker : Semi-Bluffing and Defensive Betting
Seems like most folks are often talking about pre-flop method, so I would like to speak a tiny bit about how I wager on after the flop. Possibly I can support others, or perhaps they have advice to enhance my play.
I believe that 2 of the most critical plays right after the flop are the semi-bluff and the defensive bet. Which is because these are the plays you produce when you havent hit a hand but you have a fine drawing hand. Its easy to bet on a hand whenever you flop a monster. Except I feel that these two are the finest methods to play a drawing. Each one is played depending on you competition(s) and your postion. So here is how I bet on it, so tell me what you think.
Early Placement – Tight Competitors:
A semi-bluff works fairly properly in this position. Come out betting and if a tight gambler didn’t hit a hand he’ll probably lay down, and if he is unsure you may perhaps receive a call. Except watch out, if that tight player comes back more than the best it may perhaps be time to receive away.
Early Place – Loose Opponents
This can be were I like to complete a defensive bet. Determine how a lot of chips you are willing to risk on your draw and bet. This is normally a much smaller bet than regular. It has been my experience that the loose gambler will usually just call a bet instead of re-raise. However, should you check to them, theyre more likely to throw in far more chips than your willing to pay.
Late Placement – Tight Competitors
This can be the greatest time to perform a semi-bluff, especially if most of the table checks. If that’s the case you will probaly pick up the pot now. If a gambler before has wager, you might have to come to a decision if he has a hand or not. If not, then reraise and he’ll most likely go away since he was attempting to steal the pot. Late Location – Loose Competitors
This one is often a bit complicated, simply because it is tougher to put a loose gambler on a hand. And if your in late place against loose player, chances are they have already wager. Chances are though even a loose player will go away if you are available back strong enough.
Remember although that these are moves I only produce soon after the flop comes and I have a decent drawing hand (usually not a gutshot either). Perhaps 4 to the flush or the open ended straight, for example.
